Robert P. Underwood, 73, of Washington Township, NJ, passed away peacefully at Heath Village Nursing Home on Saturday, September 17, 2011.
Born: March 25, 1938 in Millburn, NJ, he was a son of the late Paul Underwood and Ruth Underwood Becker.
Personal: Robert had lived in New Haven, CT for many years. He worked for the Greyhound Bus Co., in New Haven. He was a graduate of High Mowing School, Wilton, NH and the State University of NY at Morrisville. His hobbies included trains and railroad travel. The family is grateful to Heath Village and Bob's caregivers for their devotion. Hospice Compassionate Care truly lived up to that title by their presence, help and management in Bob's last difficult months. Memberships: He was a member of many railroad affiliations, including Danbury Railway Museum, Branford Electric Railway Association, Massachusetts Bay Railroad Enthusiasts, Inc., and National Railway Historical Society.
Survivors: His loving sister Adele Jordan of Petoskey, MI; two nephews: Dan Jordan of Belvidere, and Russell Jordan of Tucson, AZ; two nieces: Robin Jordan of Petoskey, MI, and Kristen Jordan Glass of Annapolis, MD; he also leaves a host of devoted friends of many years in his Railroad Enthusiast Group.
Services: There will be a private family service at a later date. Burial will be next to his parents in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ.
