Susan Patricia Schlosser nee Winder, 68, of Washington, NJ (formerly of Waldwick and Oakland, NJ), passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, in Phillipsburg, NJ, with her loving daughters by her side.
Born on April 12, 1958, in Ridgewood, NJ, Susan was the daughter of the late Theodore Winder and Eleanor (Tenney) Winder. Susan spent her entire childhood growing and thriving in Waldwick and was a proud graduate of Waldwick High School, Class of 1976. Susan married John Schlosser in July 1978 and later divorced.
Susan is survived by her four loving daughters: Cindy Massey and her husband Silas III; Ashleigh Schlosser and her husband David Hall; Kerry Schlosser and her partner Tom Cioletti; and Kiara Torres. She also leaves behind her cherished granddaughter, Kieran Hall, who will forever miss her “Dah-me”; and her siblings, David Winder, Gail Ortenburger, and Jackie Winder, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Susan worked as a waitress for many years and was most recently employed by ShopRite in Oakland, NJ, where she processed online orders. Always on the move, she was happiest in positions that kept her active, not sitting behind a desk. Throughout her working life, Susan’s outgoing and infectious nature secured her lifelong friendships that did not waiver regardless of time passed or distance between, hours on the phone easily remedied the distance!
Susan’s love for animals was evident in her involvement with animal rescue and foster organizations. She was affectionately known as “Snow White” for her kindness to all creatures, often seen feeding squirrels in her backyard. The countless “foster failures” she took in was a testament to her desire to provide a loving home to those unwanted creatures. Susan’s two remaining friends, Dixie and Reese’s, along with Cooper (rehomed with Cindy), miss their guardian angel.
Susan’s love for animals was only rivaled by her love for the ocean. From the Jersey Shore, Island Beach State Park to Wildwood, NJ, all the way to Key West, Florida, Susan tested the waters all along the east coast. Unfortunately, as her rheumatoid arthritis (RA) ravaged her body in later years, beach trips became only a memory, but those memories will forever be cherished. Susan’s love and passion for animals, for the ocean, and for music and life, will live on in her daughters and granddaughter, who has already told us that “Dahme is ok.”
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882. A celebration of Susan’s life will be held at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m-1:00 p.m.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Warren Hills Memorial Home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to OSCAR (One Step Closer Animal Rescue), a no-kill animal shelter located in Sparta, NJ, who recently suffered a devastating fire, under Susan Schlosser’s name.
