Donald J. Butler Jr., 79, of Asbury, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026.
Donald was born on July 19, 1946, in Phillipsburg, NJ, to the late Donald J. Butler Sr. and Virginia “Sliker” Butler.
He graduated from Washington High School, Class of 1965. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, Donald began a long and dedicated career as a shipping supervisor with BASF, where he worked for more than 38 years until his retirement in 2006.
Donald was a past member of the Washington Fire Department and also served as an Assistant Captain with the Washington Emergency Squad. He was a member of American Legion Post 131 in Belvidere. In his spare time, Donald enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with his family and he was actively involved in his community as a coach for youth football, wrestling, and baseball.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth; his two daughters, Brenda Reeser (David) and Donna Haas (John); his siblings, Ron Butler, Diane Zymewski, and Linda Katchur, Wayne Butler deceased and his stepsister, Brenda Kaumaras . He is also survived by three grandchildren Peter Richner, Jacob Richner, Sarah Richner and eight great-grandchildren.
