Klara Stankovics

Klara Stankovics passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, at Rolling Hills Care Center. She was 91 years old.

Klara was born on August 27, 1934, in Nagykanizsa, Hungary, to the late Stephen Tizedes and Maria “Buli” Tizedes. She survived WWII, the Nazi and Soviet occupation of Hungary and breast cancer. She escaped Hungary in 1956 and with the help of the Red Cross eventually settle in Bromley, Kent, England. In 1971 she immigrated to America, where she built a life centered on hard work, family, and kindness. She became a proud, naturalized, American citizen in 1987.

Klara was employed with the Hungarian Postal Service prior to coming to the United States. She later worked for the Hecon Corporation in Eatontown, New Jersey. She was also involved with the Seeing Eye Foundation, a cause that was close to her heart, despite being a die-hard cat fan.

Klara enjoyed crocheting, cooking, gardening and reading. She found great joy in caring for her family and sharing her talents and traditions with those she loved.

She is survived by her loving children, Mary Stankovics, Laszlo Stankovics and his wife Sandy, and Alex Stankovics and his wife Vilma. She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Klara was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Tizedes.

Klara will be remembered for her strength, devotion to her family, and the warmth she shared with everyone who knew her.
