Paul T. Paliscak Sr., of Washington, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on April 23, 2026. He was 93 years old.
Born on June 26, 1932, in Larksville, Pennsylvania, Paul was the son of the late Michael and Helen Palischak (née Blaskova). He was a graduate of Bloomsburg University and dedicated much of his life to education and mentorship.
In 1958, Paul began his teaching career, eventually joining Warren Hills High School in 1967, a home he would cherish for over two decades. As a respected instructor of accounting and business finance, he shaped generations of students stressing integrity, patience, and belief in their potential. For many years, he also served as adviser to the school yearbook: capturing moments, mentoring, and preserving memories.
Beyond the classroom, Paul’s passion for sports was directed into coaching softball, where his encouragement, fairness, and steady presence inspired countless young athletes on the field and in life. In recognition of his enduring impact, he was honored with induction into the Warren Hills High School Wall of Fame as a coach.
Relocating to Washington, New Jersey in 1963, Paul and Arlene built a beloved home and cultivated deep and lasting bonds within the local community. Paul valued community service, enjoying his leadership position as a Board of Education member of Brass Castle Elementary School for over ten years.
Paul loved the outdoors, gardening, camping, and working on his Plymouth Pennsylvania mountain retreat. He truly lived for bringing people together, enjoying polka music, and celebrating family life, with the guiding principle kindness always wins.
A man of deep faith, Paul was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Washington, New Jersey.
He is survived by his loving children: daughter Vickie Phares and her husband Edward, and sons Jeffery Paliscak and Mark Paliscak; his cherished grandchildren, Tori Drach, Zachary Paliscak, and Olivia Paliscak; and his siblings, Anthony Palischak, Joseph Palischak, and Theresa Stewart.
In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years, Arlene Paliscak, who passed away in 2025; his son, Paul T. Paliscak Jr.; and his siblings, Michael, John, Helen, Thomas, George, and Frank.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Avenue, Washington, New Jersey 07882.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 200 Carlton Avenue, Washington, New Jersey 07882. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
