Jacqueline Rolande Kleen, 86, formally of Abington Manor, Williams Twp., PA, and North Prospect St. Washington, NJ died in Phillipsburg, NJ on May 29th, 2011.
Born: She was born in LeHavre, France on August 5, 1924 to the late Francois and Henriette Delmais.
Personal: She attended school in France. She came to the U.S. to marry Frederick K. Kleen Jr. on July 20, 19 47. She became a naturalized citizen in 1994.
She had worked in France prior to her marriage. After coming to the U.S., she worked as a secretary in NYC at Quick Frozen Foods and years later at Grand Union in Washington, NJ for a short time. She retired to raise her five children.
She volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She made numerous trips to Europe including France, and to Florida, and enjoyed visiting NYC-plays, opera, restaurants and lunch/shopping with friends.
Memberships: Jacqueline was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Washington, NJ and of the Washington Women’s Club and the French Club.
Survivors: She is survived by five children, daughter, Jeannette Smith and her husband Barry of Forks Twp., PA, son, Frederick Kleen III and his wife, Virginia DeLalla of Morris Plains and Lebanon Twp., NJ, son, Gregory Kleen and his wife, Susanne of Saugerties, NY, daughter, Lorraine Ferry and husband Steve of High Bridge, NJ and daughter, Joyce Kleen and her husband Jerry Smith of Crystal River, Fl. and TN. She is survived by her four grandchildren, Sean, Matthew, and Daniel Ferry of High Bridge, NJ and Timothy Kleen of Robinson, Ill. She is also survived by her niece, Ellen Flynn and family of Fountain Hill, PA; her brother, Gerard Delmais of France; and a niece, Isabelle and nephew Laurent and numerous cousins in France.
Preceding her in death, husband Frederick K. Kleen Jr. on May 19, 2007 after a 59- year marriage and a grandson, David G. Kleen on June 13, 1996.
Services: Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Funeral Services will be held on Friday June 3 at 10 a.m. Friends and family may call from 9 a.m. until time of services on Friday. Funeral service will be held at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ with Fr. Blaine Baran officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Jackson Valley Road, Washington, NJ.
