Victor Tomie Jr. of Port Murray, NJ even though reaching 90 years, left us far too soon on Tuesday October 21, 2025
Victor was born and raised in Newark NJ where he attended high school and vocational tech school. Victor was a long-time resident of New Providence NJ where he and his loving wife Justine raised their family.
Victor was a proud member of the U.S. Navy’s Construction Battalion “Seabees” and a former member of the Carpenter’s Union, prior to launching his own contracting business where he enjoyed working side-by-side with his son-in-law Bill Boyle for many years; Victor was a gifted craftsman who shared his talents freely—always ready to lend a hand, build something beautiful, or fix what others couldn’t. Over the years, he created countless projects both big and small, from helping friends with home repairs to building his own family’s beloved lake house. After retirement, he delighted in making beautiful birdhouses that he shared with family and friends.
Victor found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved being on Lake Wallenpaupack, boating with family and friends, spending time at classic car shows, and enjoying a portion of his retirement days in Ormond Beach, Florida and Brick, NJ. An avid bowler, he often scored over 200—even well into his 80s—and during this same time joined a bocce ball club where he enjoyed the game with community friends.
He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, craftsmanship, and the way that he selflessly helped others.
Victor was preceded in death by his one and only true love of 58 years, his wife, Justine Tomie (2016), and brother Alan Tomie.
He is survived by his two daughters: MaryAnn Boyle and her husband William, and Catherine Mullen and her husband Paul. Three grandchildren: William Boyle and his wife Christina, Marissa Rafanello and her husband Evan and Allison Woltman and her husband Evan, and five great grandchildren: Billy, Mia, Ayla, Gabriel and Taylor, and his siblings, Susan Hoban, Stephen Tomie, Vicky Isom and James Tomie.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday November 3, 2025, from 1:30 – 3 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington, Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A funeral service celebrating Victor’s life will begin at 3:00 at the funeral home.
