Timothy P. Percarpio
Born January 25th, 1941, in Paterson, New Jersey. He was the 3rd child of Frank J. and Marie Bernadette Percarpio. His siblings included Fran, Bill, Bernie, and Colleen. His father was a remarkably successful businessman working in textiles and other industries. His mother was a nurse at St. Joseph’s Medical Center.
Tim spent early years in Fair Lawn before moving to Washington, New Jersey. Tim spent his childhood surrounded by loving family including aunts, uncles and cousins. He attended the prestigious Delbarton School. Delbarton, an all-boys Catholic college-preparatory boarding school, was instrumental in Tim’s life. It was there he made lifelong friends, including Jack McNamara and Bill McFadden. Tim played right guard for the Delbarton football team, which had an undefeated year in their senior year. During his time at Delbarton, he began his lifelong passion for flying, obtaining a pilot’s license at the age of 17. Graduating in 1959, Tim went on to study biology at Villanova University and received a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Pennsylvania in 1967.
That same year, Tim joined the Army as a Captain. He completed 2 years of active service stationed primarily at Fort Knox. He would often wake his children up with a playful sound of reveille. From the Army, Tim and his family moved to Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, then to North Dakota, once building his children a complete skating rink in their backyard, and back to Pennsylvania in 1975. During those years, Tim opened his own dental practices and worked for the Hamilton Health Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He retired from dentistry in 2010. Dr. Percarpio was beloved by his staff and patients alike.
Along with his first wife, Donna, Tim raised five children with a sense of passion, purpose and kindness. From his own childhood, education and family – Tim brought a wonderful balance of structure & fun. Discipline and spontaneity. Teaching and letting go. He was an avid storyteller. Along with his passion for flying, he loved music, books and movies and truly guided his children to be their best. He had a way of making all his children feel loved and led with a good example of how to be a wonderful parent. He would often take one or more of his children flying with him – to the beach, a concert, or lunch in a faraway place.
Tim married Mai in 2000 beginning the next phase of his life. They moved to Carlisle where they built a loving life and lasting friendships. If Tim wasn’t at home spending time with Mai, often sharing a warm bowl of pho, he was flying. Owning and maintaining his own planes, from Cessna to Grumman to Mooney, Tim kept his planes and his skills in mint condition – earning his place among the UFO – United Flying Octogenarians. His favorite plane was his Mooney 205. Next time you hear a small plane overhead, it might be one of Tim’s Flying Friends passing by.
Tim is survived by his wife Mai, her children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his children Mary Beth and her husband David Bass, Megan and her husband Alexander Crokos, Tim and his wife Linda Percarpio, Courtney and her husband Jerry Vitale, John and his wife Sabine Percarpio; and his sister Colleen and her husband Terry McGowan, sister-in-law Brenda Percarpio; and his first wife, Donna Kelly. Tim was a beloved grandfather to eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and uncle to many nieces and nephews. His positive spirit lives on through all who knew him.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, November 21, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A memorial service celebrating Tim's life will begin at 1:00 PM in the funeral home.
