Theresa Kingsley Obituary
Florida Theresa (Simard-Walsh) Kingsley passed away peacefully from natural causes on October 9, 2026, at Trinity Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Known to family and friends simply as Theresa, she is survived by her beloved son, Kevin John Walsh and his wife, Bernardina Walsh, of Leominster; her granddaughters, Erin Walsh and Jordan Walsh; and her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Walsh and Michael Walsh. She is also survived by her nieces, Claudine Simon and her husband, Mark Simon, and Michelle Pickette and her husband, Glen Pickette, of New Jersey; her sister-in-law, Donna Simard; and her niece, Jenna Simard, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Additionally, she leaves behind her great-nephews, Jack Simon and Justin Pickette, and her great-nieces, Mackenzie Pickette and Zoey Pickette.
Theresa was predeceased by her beloved husband of many years, Roger Kingsley, in 2017, as well as her brothers, Donald Simard (2004) and Raymond Simard Jr. (2019), and her sister-in-law, Joan Simard (1999).
Theresa was born on November 26, 1931, in Washington, New Jersey, to Raymond Simard and Madeline Benbrook Staples. She spent more than 50 years in New Jersey, where she was raised surrounded by the love of her Grammy, Poppy, and her Auntie (Bertha Chareoux), all of whom held a special place in her heart. She often shared fond memories of the many family gatherings she enjoyed throughout her life, and if family stories improved slightly with each retelling, no one seemed to mind.
While raising her son, Kevin, Theresa built a long career as a medical transcriptionist at Warren Hospital. With the support of her beloved Aunt Bertha, she balanced work and motherhood with determination and grace. Later in life, she remarried and moved to Pennsylvania with her husband, Roger, where they shared 36 wonderful years together. Following Roger's passing, Theresa relocated to Leominster to be closer to Kevin and his family, a decision that brought her great comfort, happiness, and exactly what she wanted most: more opportunities to spend time with her son.
Theresa was a loyal fan of the New York Mets and Dallas Cowboys, and she rarely missed a game. In fact, family members quickly learned not to call during kickoff, first pitch, or the occasional nail-biting finish. She treasured time with her family and with her lifelong best friend, Shirley Mugavero, whose friendship spanned more than 80 years, proving that some friendships truly do last a lifetime.
She found joy in the simple things: a captivating Danielle Steel or Patricia Cornwell book, steamers paired with a cold Genesee Cream Ale, dancing whenever the opportunity presented itself, watching a good Western, challenging word searches, her ever-growing collection of gnomes, and faithfully watching the detectives of Law & Order, CSI, and Blue Bloods solve crimes from the comfort of her chair. She also loved spending time with her extended Leominster family at Libby and Loreta's home, where the conversation was lively, the laughter came easily, and no one ever left hungry.
Above all else, Theresa's greatest joy was her son, Kevin. She loved being close to him and was one of his bands' most dedicated fans, proudly attending performances and cheering him on whenever she could. Whether he wanted it or not, he could always count on having at least one very enthusiastic supporter in the audience.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, November 7, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A memorial service will begin in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Inurnment at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Cemetery will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to an Alzheimer's research organization of your choice, in honor of Theresa.
