Robert Earl Zlöbl, of Port Murray, NJ, and previously of Three Bridges, NJ, passed away on November 27, 2025, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ. He was born on January 20, 1936, in Greenfield, Massachusetts, to the late Joseph and Mary (Piontek) Zlöbl.
Bob served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He also served in the Air National Guard. Throughout his life, he worked many jobs within the construction industry, including many years as a dedicated member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union Local 18 in New Jersey and Local 1 in New York. He also co-owned a construction company. He took pride in his work in numerous projects across the region. Near the end of his career, Bob applied his construction experience while working as a building inspector.
A life member of the VFW, Bob also enjoyed a variety of hobbies that reflected his curiosity and interest in history. He loved sailing, reading, antiques, was a coin collector, and took joy in collecting military medals, which he affectionately referred to as “hero badges.”
He is survived by his children: Mary Zlöbl and her husband, Paul Fischer; William Zlöbl and his wife, Patricia Manna-Zlöbl; and Johanna Zlöbl. He also leaves behind his granddaughter, Grace Zlöbl.
Bob was a loyal companion to many canine friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal shelter of your choice.
