Robert T. Wilson, 86, of Washington, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home on August 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 1, 1939, in Newark, New Jersey, Robert was the son of the late Anthony and Florence Wilson (née Kitson). He was a proud graduate of Essex County Vo-Tech and went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army.
Robert dedicated many years of his career as a bus mechanic for NJ Transit before continuing his passion for transportation as a bus driver with Snyder Bus Company. Known for his strong work ethic and friendly nature, he was admired by coworkers and beloved by passengers.
In his free time, Robert enjoyed hunting, playing bingo, scratching lottery tickets, and camping. He also loved watching game shows and reading his morning paper with a nice hot cup of coffee. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Cindi, and their children: Diane Cardoso and her husband Carlos Sr., Robert Wilson, Karin Burd and her husband Michael, and Bryan Wilson and his wife Liz.
He was a proud grandfather to Carlos Cardoso Jr., Melissa Cardoso, Alex Cardoso, Jacob Wilson, Ryan Wilson, Katie Wilson, Noah Wilson, Kaylee Burd, Landon Wilson, Kyle Wilson, Emma Wilson, and Bella Wilson.
Robert is also survived by his siblings: Charles, James and his wife Jacqueline, Florence and her husband David Reinhard, and sister-in-law Beverly Wilson. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother John Wilson, and sister-in-law Delores Wilson.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:30 PM at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Avenue, Washington, New Jersey 07882. There will be a time of reflection beginning at 7:30 in the funeral home, followed by military honors.
