Richard Adrian Groenendaal

Richard A Groenendaal, 74, passed away suddenly on June 23, 2023 at St. Luke's Carbon Hospital. Richard was born on October 25, 1948 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Adrian and Mildred "Zwipf" Groenendaal. Richard grew up in Jersey City graduating from Dickinson High School class of 1966. He also resided in Woodbridge and the Highlands before moving to Lopatcong Township in 2008. He married his soulmate Coleen "McGovern" in 1976. Richard served proudly in the US Army's 2nd Division from 1968-1970 during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a Lab Technician for Exxon Mobil and ConocoPhillips in Linden, NJ for more than 37 years until his retirement in 2015. Richard belonged to various shooting clubs, he was an avid and skilled photographer, he also liked to read, enjoyed sports cars and never stopped learning. Additionally he loved spending time in his Pocono home with his wife and their dogs

In addition to his wife of 47 years Coleen, Richard is survived by 4 brothers-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law and 12 nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at their home in Lopatcong, NJ.
