Peggy M. Hengst

On January 13, 2026, Peggy Hengst 96 years old of Washington, New Jersey passed away peacefully.

Born on June 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Marguerite Minassian. She was married the late Raymond Hengst for 74 years. Together they built a successful dairy and crop farm.

She was praised for her delicious cooking especially her turkey stuffing. She enjoyed being a homemaker and spent many years canning the vegetables from her extensive garden. Her hobbies included antiquing and estate sales.

She and her husband did a lot of traveling and they found pleasure in spending their winters in Tavares, Florida.

Peggy is survived by her children: Eloise Cary (Michael); Leonard Hengst (Judy); Peggy Jean Hannema (Willem); Raymond Hengst (Connie); Linda Watters (Joseph), and Heather Tucker (Curt); 13 grandchildren: Sean, Michael, Erin, Willem, Holly, Laura, Mary Lynn, Amanda, Joseph, Ryan, Curtis, Megan, and Shanna; 16 great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Vander Waal.

She is predeceased by her husband, Raymond Hengst (2024); parents, Harry and Marguerite Minassian, and siblings Ralph, Walter, Henry, Charles, Muriel, and Richard.

It is the family’s wishes that all services remain private.
