Odete Ruis Polo

Odete Ruis Polo, 76, formerly of Franklin Township, NJ, and Mount Vernon, NY passed away peacefully on December 4, 2022 at Brakeley Park Care Center in Lopatcong, NJ with her loving family by her side.

Odete was born on January 11, 1946 in São Paulo, Brazil to the late Francisco and Rosa Polo. She spent her early life in Argentina and Brazil. At a very young age, she discovered her passion for dancing. She studied ballet and tap throughout the years and was often seen with her castanets.

Odete was a hard worker, employed as a cleaner for many years prior to her retirement. Her favorite pastime was playing Farmville. Above all, she loved her family and treasured every moment spent with them. She did everything she could to build a beautiful life for herself and her family. She was an excellent cook, an even better eater, and a great friend, sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother. She lived a life of service, dedicating her time, love, encouragement, and support to all those she loved, leaving her imprint on their lives forever. A rare soul, a true friend. She was reliable. She was consistent. And she was always present. To know her was to love her. Loved and cherished by many, her presence lit up every room she was in. Her laugh was contagious. And lord knows she was a fighter!

She is survived by her loving daughter; Erika Lipka, and her cherished grandchildren; Vinicius Ricardo Gouveia, Alissa Marie Gouveia, and Lawrence Warren Lipka. She also leaves behind a sister Maria Antonia Polo. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Osvaldo Polo.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 10 AM – 2 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 0882. Funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 2 PM in the funeral home.
