Listen to Obituary

Nicholas Torres, 72, of Washington, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Nick was born on May 16, 1954, in New York, New York. He grew up in Manhattan and graduated from Charles Evans Hughes High School. In 1987, he married his soulmate, Laura “Melious” Torres, and together they made their home in Washington, New Jersey, beginning in 1990.

Nick enjoyed a successful career as a Conference Planner with AT&T, where he worked for many years. He also worked as a chauffeur for Genova Burns from 2006 until 2020 when he retired. Nick was a devoted fan of the New York Mets and New York Knicks and could often be found enjoying disco music and dancing. Earlier in life, he was an avid softball player and treasured the friendships and memories made through the sport. On a hot summer’s day, Nick could always be found lounging in his pool and listening to his music. On a rainy day, you could find him in his chair with one of his pups snuggled next to him. Nick’s contagious smile and laughter was noticed by all when he came into a room. He loved to tell stories, jokes, and had a warmth about him that made anyone feel welcome around him.

In addition to his loving wife, Laura, Nick is survived by his two sons, Nicholas A. Torres (Gina Dannibale) and Matthew J. Torres (Abbey); as well as his Uncle Emilio, beloved cousins, nieces and nephews and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882.
