Michael Anema

Michael J. Anema, 56 of Washington, NJ passed away on December 17, 2014 at St. Luke's Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ with his family by his side. Michael was born in Phillipsburg, NJ on October 15, 1958 to the late John and Evelyn Anema. He grew up in Great Meadows on the family Dairy farm. Michael graduated from Warren Hills High School class of 1978. After high school, Michael married his High School sweetheart Linda in 1981. A lifetime farmer, Michael purchased the family dairy farm and milked cows for over thirty years. In 1995 he purchased Dutch Valley Tree Farm where he built the greenhouses in order to start a nursery. In 2004 Michael and his family opened Dutch Valley Florist. Michael was a hard working person who dedicated his entire life to his family and businesses. Michael was of Methodist faith and enjoyed the fellowship of Port Colden Methodist Church. He was a member and alumni of the Warren Hills Future Farmers of America, and an agricultural coach for the Warren County students. Michael loved hunting and bowling and you could always find him at the County fair tractor pulls with his beloved John Deere 4020. He was a New England Patriots fan. He was a very outgoing person and enjoyed meeting new people. Michael could always be found having coffee at 10:00 a.m. at the flower shop with family & friends. He was devoted to his family and treasured every moment spent together especially with his grandson Michael. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his devoted wife Linda, 3 loving daughters, Malissa Kady and her husband Joseph, Victoria Smith and her husband Randy, and Jennifer Anema and her boyfriend Jon McConnell. His cherished grandson Michael Edward Smith and his faithful dog Sandy. Friends and family may call on Sunday December 21, 2014 from 1-3 & 6-9 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. Funeral Service will be held Monday December 22, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Evan W Rohrs-Dodge & Fr. Robert Christy Troutman officiating. Cremation will be private.
