It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, memom, and great memom, Mary Lou Kovacs. Mary Lou passed away peacefully in her home on June 28, 2025 with her family by her side after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and Dementia.


Mary Lou was born on July 16, 1941 in Easton, PA to Lewis Fraunfelder and Virginia Ewadinger. She was 83 years old.


Mary Lou was a lifelong resident of Washington, NJ. She graduated from Washington High School in 1959. She graduated from Montclair State College. Upon graduation, she married her high school sweetheart Ronald Kovacs on June 20, 1964. They were married for 61 years. She worked as a Physical Education teacher in the Washington Boro School District for 32 years.


She was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Washington. She was active in the Couple's Club as well as other church groups. She was also a member of the NJ Retired Teachers' Association.


Mary Lou and Ron enjoyed traveling in their motorhome with their friends and spending time in Florida during the winter. She was an avid reader, cross stitcher, she loved music and loved to dance. Mary Lou also loved cooking, canning, and baking her famous Christmas cookies.


Most importantly, Mary Lou loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a very special bond with them all and was their biggest cheerleader.


Mary Lou is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years Ron, her loving children Michele Cooper (Jeff), Michael Kovacs (Shannon), Ronda Ferri(John), and Renee Hart(Albert). Her grandchildren Alexa Mullins(Dan), Matthew Cooper, Austin Hart(Alyssa), Addisan Hart, Grace Ferri, Jacob Ferri, Aaron Hart, Madeline Kovacs, Miranda Kovacs, Justin Wagner, Lauren Wagner, and Cody Allen(Brittany). And 4 great grandchildren. Mary Lou is also survived by her sisters Lisa Youngkin(Wayne) and Billie Thatcher(Bob). She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.


Our family would like to thank the caregivers that have been with our mom over the last 5 years allowing her to remain at home. A heartfelt thank you to Ivanna and Rina who were with her until her passing. A special thank you to KAQ Hospice for their support and compassion.

In honoring Mary Lou's wishes all services will be private.
