Martha Hoag

Martha S. Hoag, 75, of Belvidere, NJ, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2009. Born: December 16, 1933 in Bound Brook, NJ; she was a daughter of the late George and Dorothy Eckert Sofield. Personal: She lived most of her life in Somerset County before moving to Sarasota, Florida for 27 years, returning to this area in 1996. Martha was a retired bookkeeper of the Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church. She was active throughout her life in numerous community governance and volunteer organizations.Martha was president of the Country View Village Homeowners Association for the past ten years. In her spare time she enjoyed collecting antique glassware, baking, and arts and crafts. Survivors: A daughter Laura and husband Donald Bornstein of Lebanon Township, NJ; two sons, Scott Hoagland of PA and Mark Hoagland of Myakka City, FL; three grandchildren, Maurissa Bornstein of San Diego, Darin Bornstein and Travis Hoagland, both of Carlisle, PA; she was an aunt, great aunt and great-great aunt to 25 nieces and nephews. Martha was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Robert L. Hoag and two sisters, Anna Marie Pierri and Roberta Evans. Services: Visitation will be held 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday with a 5 p.m. memorial service at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ.Interment will follow in Hillington Cemetery, Morris, NY. Memorials: The family prefers memorials to Care Alternatives, 70 Jackson Drive, Suite 200, Cranford, NJ 07016.
