Mark Schumann, 76, passed away on February 6, 2026.

Born on June 6, 1949, in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, Mark was a hardworking and devoted husband and father whose life was defined by craftsmanship, service, and a deep love for the outdoors. A Vietnam Air Force veteran, he carried a strong sense of duty, independence, and resilience throughout his life.

For more than 40 years, Mark was a respected local carpenter and chimney contractor through his self-owned business, Adirondack Chimney & Carpentry. His skilled hands helped restore multiple 18th century homes throughout the area, preserving history for future generations. He was proud to serve on the Harmony Township Historic Committee and cared deeply about the land and community he called home.

Mark found peace and purpose outdoors. He was an avid hunter, golfer, and outdoorsman who felt most at home in nature, where patience, respect, and tradition mattered.

A gifted writer and natural storyteller, Mark was charismatic, and quick-witted. He had a rare ability to make people smile, captivate a room, and turn a moment into a story worth remembering. He lived fully, with many chapters and experiences that shaped the man so many loved.

He will be remembered for his legendary stories, the many lives he lived, his unwavering love for his family, and the loyal companionship he shared with his dogs, who were always close by and deeply loved.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Susan Carley Schumann; his daughters, Carley Schumann and Kristin Scott; his grandson, Liam Scott; and his brother, David Schumann.

He was preceded by his son Jason Schumann, sister Gail Cornish, and brother Robert Schumann

A celebration of life will be held in the Spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages honoring Mark by spending time outdoors, sharing a good story, or supporting Veterans Haven North in Glen Gardner or Common Sense for Animals in Stewartsville.
