Marian Frances Hamlen Rush Abbott

Marian Frances Hamlen Rush Abbott, 92, of Washington Township passed away peacefully on the family farm on January 6, 2022.
Marian was born on May 18, 1929 in Stewartsville NJ to the late Charles and Katherine Welch Hamlen. She was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School and attended Trenton State College.
Marian married her first love, Albert Y. Rush, in 1949. They farmed together until Albert's death in 1977. Marian started working at Koh-I-Noor and retired after 17 years. She then continued to work more than 10 years with a nutritionist.
In her early years, Marian was a 4H leader teaching sewing. Later in life she volunteered at Warren Haven specializing in making crafts with the residents.
Marian was a long-time member of the Stewartsville Presbyterian Church.
Marian enjoyed cooking and a stain glass hobby of which many received her beautiful pieces. Her most valuable assets were her family. She loved spending time with all.
Marian is the last of seven children: Richard. Frank, Lester, Margaret (Mengel), Martha (Sikra), and John.
Marian's second husband was John E. Abbott, which she resided in a home in Washington Township till his death in 2015. Her remaining years were spent on the home farm with her son Kevin and his wife Laura.
Marian is survived by her loving family, children: Kathleen Rush, Kevin Rush wife Laura, Karen Rush, and Kerry Smith, husband John. Grandchildren Alyshea Dugan, her 2 sons and 2 grandchildren. The late Jason Dugan, his 4 children and 6 grandchildren. Sarah Carmona, Kevin Rush Jr., wife Sheena and 2 sons, Daniel wife Katelyn and 3 children, Annalise Kimble husband Adam and 2 children, Thomas Rush. Nicole Rebholz husband, Scott and 3 sons, John Jr. wife Kelli and a daughter, Katie Pierce, husband James and a son. A grandson, Joshua Smith, preceded her in death.
Marian was well loved and will be missed by all.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday January 12, 2022 from 10-11 AM at the Stewartsville Presbyterian Church. 550 North Main St, Stewartsville, NJ. 08886. A service of remembrance will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will follow at Montana Mountain Cemetery in Harmony. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Marian's name to the Stewartsville Presbyterian Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home.
