Marguerite E. Hamler, 95, of the Brookfield section of Belvidere, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025. Marguerite was born on September 17, 1930, in Newark, NJ, to the late Harry and Margaret “Reimer” McEwen. She spent her early years in Newark, later making her home in Long Valley and then Peapack-Gladstone, before settling in Belvidere, where she lived for the past 25 years.
Marguerite was employed as a waitress for many years, at the Golden Horse in Chester, NJ. She had a passion for shopping and dining out, but above all, Marguerite cherished the time she spent with her family.
She is survived by her children: Steven Gural and his wife, Vicki; Walter Gural and his wife, Lori; and Nancy Castner; her companion, Jack Cawley; six grandchildren: Heather Janoski, Alison Lorentson, Shaun Gural, Justin Gural, Jill Gural, and Alexis Castner; eleven great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, Kitty. Marguerite was predeceased by her first husband, Walter Gural; her second husband, Frank “Ted” Hamler; and her sister, Mary Jane Kehrle.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882. A funeral service celebrating Marguerite’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at German Valley Rural Cemetery in Long Valley, NJ.
