Luella (Tootie) Hubbard, 91, of Washington, NJ passed away on July 22, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Born November 3, 1931 in Glen Gardner, NJ to the late William and Mary “Fulper” Height. She attended Hampton High School and was employed at Tung Sol and Diamond Aerosol earlier in her life. She was subsequently married to Charles R. Hubbard of Washington, New Jersey. Luella was a parishioner of the First Presbyterian Church in Washington and a past member of the Washington Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Washington Eastern Star.
Tootie was known for her positive attitude and her kind and generous personality. Her infectious laugh was contagious and made you realize the joyous side of life. Daily contact with her family and personal care for her home were attributes that defined her character. As an avid antique collector, she relished displaying her impeccable decorating skills throughout her home.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will always remember “Grammy” who loved and adored them. Despite her age of 91 she demonstrated a personal interest in each child as they entered various stages of their lives.
Tootie is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Onembo and her husband Jim and Joanie Ziegler. Grandchildren, Royale Abrams (Josh), Chyna McArdle (Shawn), Jasa Onembo, Kyle Ziegler (Faye), Clint Ziegler (Caitlin) and Zana Harbon (Ryan). Great grandchildren, Allston, Iya, Annika, Amirah Abrams; Talulah and Marigold Harbon; Henry and Charli Ziegler; Ava Ziegler; Indya and Silas McArdle. A sister, Virginia Sinko; sister-in-law, RoseMarie Hight and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Luella was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her brothers William and Robert Hight and a son-in-law Pence A. Ziegler.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday July 31, 2023, from 10 AM- 12PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave, Washington, NJ 07882. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Union Cemetery in Long Valley, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, 34th & Civic Center Boulevards, Philadelphia, PA 19104, www.chop.edu
