Loretta A. Honeywell, 92, of Stewartsville, NJ, formerly of Bloomingdale, NJ and Cranford, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 14, 2026
Loretta was born on August 29, 1933, in Englewood, NJ, to the late Richard and Nadine (Lynch) Smith. She grew up in Teaneck, NJ, and graduated from Teaneck High School, Class of 1951. She went on to earn her nursing degree from St. James Nursing School in Newark.
Loretta worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Elizabeth Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth for many years before retiring in 1973. Loretta also worked for some years as a School Crossing Guard in the Township of Cranford after her retirement from Nursing.
Loretta also spent many years serving as a foster parent for the State of NJ
In her spare time, Loretta enjoyed being a supporter of the Cranford Patriots Drum and Bugle Corps, breeding St Bernards and English Bulldogs, painting ceramics, knitting, reading, and playing bingo. Above all, she loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Loretta is survived by her children, Kathleen Honeywell (Eric McEwan), Forest Honeywell III (Dorothy), Patrick Honeywell (Lisa), Steven Honeywell (Sharon) Shelly MacNamara (James), daughter-in-law Christina Lotito (the late Fredrick); and ten grandchildren, Kyle (Melissa), Jason (Melissa), Megan, Daniel, Jessica (Evens), Samantha (Patrick), Patrick Jr, Steven Jr (Samantha), Michael and David (Stacy); and eight great-grandchildren (Kai, Lily, Liam, Jordan, Aiden, Torin, Brooke and Reagan).
In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her brothers George and Richard Smith and her sons, Lawrence Honeywell and Fredrick (Ricky) Honeywell.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
