Leon Ferguson

Leon Ferguson, 89, formerly of Rome, PA and West Caldwell, NJ passed away peacefully on February 20, 2016. Leon was born on April 5, 1926 in West Caldwell, NJ to the late William and Catherine Ferguson. After high school Leon joined the US Army during WW II. He served proudly in the African and European Campaign. Leon received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his heroic actions during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the VFW in Parsippany, NJ. He enjoyed fly fishing, tying flies, cooking, gardening and listening to the bagpipes. Leon cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Leon is servived by his loving daughter Shirley McMurray and her husband Charles. Granddaughters; Ronnette Nolff and her husband Timothy, Ivy Young and her husband Michael, Holly Sweeney and her husband Mathew, Bridgette Almada and her husband Will. A grandson Patrick McCleary and his wife Michelle. 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. A memorial service will be celebrated on Wednesday February 24, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882.
