Joseph L. Sparacello, Sr., of Flemington, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, surrounded by love and family.
He was born on December 13, 1931, in Bayonne, New Jersey, to the late Anthony Sparacello and Lena Sparacello (née LaRocca).
Joseph was a graduate of Bayonne Technical School, Class of 1950. He was a proud, decorated veteran of the U.S. Navy who served during the Korean War. Joseph enjoyed being outdoors, working in his garden, fishing, hunting, and especially loved preparing and sharing his famous homemade sauce with friends and family.
A hard-working and passionate individual, Joseph was the owner of Budd’s Beauty Lounge in Bayonne, N.J., and also built a successful career as an export/import manager at Mishans.
Joseph is survived by his children: Anthony Sparacello and his wife, Joyce; Michael Sparacello and his wife, Debbie; and Joseph Sparacello, Jr., and his wife, Hope. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren—Nicky, Shane, and April—and his precious great-grandson, Kane.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Maria, who passed in 2004, and his grandson, Jimmy Jr., both of whose memories remained close to his heart.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of his loving wife, Maria, in honor of her strength and in support of the fight against cancer.
A private service celebrating Joseph’s life will be held at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. Cremation will follow.
