John F. Hisko Jr.

John F. Hisko Jr., fisherman, friend, lover of life, passed away on September 20, 2022, at his home in Washington, NJ.

Born in Raritan Township, John grew up in Readington and helped tend the family's flock of sheep and pets with his siblings, Donna and Billy. He graduated from Hunterdon Central High School, where he excelled in football and wrestling. At an early age, he joined the family business, Hisko Excavating. Following in his father's, grandfather's, and Uncle Joe's footsteps, John became a heavy equipment operator and could expertly operate the full suite of Caterpillar machinery including bulldozers, excavators, scrapers, and end dumps. He took great pride in working alongside his parents, brother, and nephew, Michael.

John inherited his love of the sea from his grandfather, John, and his father and spent many happy hours on his boat fishing for tuna and bass. In addition to fishing, John enjoyed deer hunting and pulling his antique tractors competitively. While trophy deer mounts decorate his home, his shop is lined with far too many tractor-pulling trophies and ribbons to count. John traveled from the Warren County Farmers' Fair and Jacktown to Cecil County, Maryland, and Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and beyond to put his prized 1947 Minneapolis Moline U up against the best.

John is survived by his heartbroken wife, Tracy, and his devoted parents, Betty and John. He also leaves behind his adoring sister, Donna and her husband, Paul, and loving brother, William and his wife, Darlene. John was an amazing "unkie" to Paul Jr., Daniel and his fiancée, Nina, Michael, Christopher, Ryan, Brandon, Adam, Payton, and Colton, and a loving great-uncle to Mason, Addie, Gio, and Gianna. Also mourning his passing are his parents-in-law, Barbara and Lee, and brother-in-law, Ralph, and his partner, Joan. He also is survived by aunts, Annie and Jane; uncles, Joe and Tony; and numerous cousins. John will be greatly missed by his cats, Chloe and Trooper. He leaves behind many dear friends with whom he enjoyed fishing, tractor pulling, snow plowing, and shooting the breeze.

John is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Betty and John; maternal grandparents, Vickie and Bill; and his beloved beagles, Smokey, Lola, and Murphy.
