John Bartow

John H. Bartow, 91, of Washington, NJ, died on Thursday, May 5, 2005 at his home. Born: On October 7, 1913 in Rockport, NJ, he was a son of the late Walter and Amanda Hart Bartow. Personal: He and his loving wife, the former Catherine Robertson were married for 30 years. His first wife, the former Catherine Kent passed away in 1972. He was a resident of Washington, NJ for the past 70 years, moving there from Rockport, NJ. He was a salesman and driver for Continental Bakery for 37 years, retiring in 1975. Earlier in his life he worked for Kent's Bakery in Washington. Memberships: John was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Catherine, he is survived by a daughter, Beatrice Shaw of Washington, NJ; and two grandchildren, Charlene and Scott. A granddaughter, Annette, died earlier. Services: A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the church, 2233 State Highway Route 57, Broadway, NJ 08808 with the Rev. Joan Palmer officiating. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in the Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ.
