Jeffrey Nixon Burd

Jeffrey Nixon Burd, 71, went home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2024.

Jeffrey was born on May 15, 1953, in Staten Island, NY, to the late Donald and Phyllis Burd. In adulthood, he lived at the Hunterdon Developmental Center (HDC) in Clinton, NJ, where he spent over 50 years under the compassionate and loving care of the dedicated staff. As a developmentally disabled person, Jeffrey thrived in this safe community that provided him with joy, friends, and many onsite resources which allowed him to live his best life.

He especially loved music, swimming, trips to the local ice cream stand, and the many outings and activities organized by HDC. Jeffrey also cherished visits and car rides with his family, moments that brought him great happiness and connection.

Jeffrey's family is grateful for the care he received at HDC and the memories he leaves behind in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Jeffrey is survived by his siblings: Guy "Herbie" Burd and his wife Deborah, Donna Golda and her husband John, Patricia Burd and her husband James Sisk, Linda Burd and her husband Ralph Anema, Cynthia Wildermuth and her husband Steve, and Scott Burd and his wife Deborah. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and loving extended family.

A memorial graveside service to honor Jeffrey's life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Montana Mountain Cemetery in Harmony, NJ.
