Gloria Roy

Gloria R. Roy, a longtime resident of the Washington NJ area, died Tuesday, August 28th at her home. Gloria was born on February 1, 1927 in Schenectady, NY to the late Francis and Concetta Roberts. Gloria graduated from Burnt Hills High School in 1945 and took a position with General Electric. She met her husband Louis B. Roy in Dec. 1952; they were married in June of 1953 and remained married for almost 52 years until his passing in 2005. Gloria and Lou made a wonderful home for 6 children in upstate NY and Frankfort, IL before finally settling in Washington NJ in 1972. Gloria worked at the Chocolate Shoppe in Washington and at Warren Hills Family Health Center. She was an active member of the PTA and the Warren Hills Blue Streak Band Boosters. She was also a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she taught catechism and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. An avid Bridge player, she enjoyed couponing, socializing with friends, watching Family Feud and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her six children: Anthony Roy and his wife Patricia, Robert Roy and his wife Janine, Constance Doolan and her husband William, Adrienne Roy Blackwood, Michael Roy and his wife Amy, and Francesca Conroy and her husband Michael. She is also survived by her brother John Roberts, her sisters Anne Kelderhouse, Margaret Biggins, and Caroline Nichols, her caregiver Vanessa Bagaloo, and her 12 grandchildren. We all feel truly blessed to have had her love, inspiration and lessons in courage throughout our lives. We will miss her dearly. Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday September 4, 2018 from 4-8 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday September 5, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Church., 200 Carlton Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
