George J. Sages, 93, of White Township, NJ, and formerly of Nutley, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 18, 1932, in Newark, New Jersey, George was the son of the late Victor and Rose Sages. He was a proud graduate of Seton Hall Preparatory School, Class of 1950, and continued his education at Newark Vo-Tech.
George served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a proud veteran. Following his military service, he worked for many years as a toll collector on the New Jersey Garden State Parkway.
George married his wife Margie in 1956. They spent 65 wonderful years together building a life they loved filled with family and summers at the Jersey Shore in Beach Haven West. George and Margie were soulmates who are now reunited in heaven.
He was a devoted Yankees fan, loyal to the pinstripes through every season. He never missed a game and cheered on his team with unwavering passion. His love for the Yankees was more than a pastime; it was part of who he was. George never passed up an Italian-style hot dog, or a meal at a local diner with family and friends. He also liked bus trips to shows and casinos. Though he never struck big by winning the lottery, he never lost hope. George was well known for sharing his daily jokes at the Warren County Nutrition Center, for more than 10 years , where he loved spending time with friends.
George is survived by his beloved children: Pamela Nicolai, Paul Sages and his wife Donna, and Victor Sages and his wife Cynthia. He was a cherished grandfather to eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
