Elsie L. Whitmore

Elsie L. Whitmore, 90, of Washington, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at Complete Care Nursing Home in Phillipsburg, NJ.

Elsie was born on September 16, 1936, in Oyster Bay, Long Island, NY, to the late Wendell L. Van Sickle and Elsie Van Sickle (Reer).

Elsie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who cherished the time she spent with her family. She will be remembered for her warm heart, her caring nature, and the love she so freely shared with those around her.

She is survived by her three children, Bradley Whitmore and his wife, Lisa; Wendell Whitmore and his wife, Shelly; and Donald Whitmore III and his wife, Patricia. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Zachary, Halle, Tyler, Aaron, Korey, Kyle, and Killian, and her great-grandchildren, Paisley, Mia, Luke, Lincoln, Nolan, and Olivia.

In addition to her parents, Elsie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald Whitmore Jr., who passed away in 1995; her sister, Thelma; and her brothers, Richard and Wendell.

Elsie enjoyed many hobbies and activities throughout her life, including ceramics, cooking, baking, and sewing. She especially loved going to the beach and spending time with family. In her younger years, she enjoyed snowmobiling and the adventures that came with it.

The love, joy, and strength Elsie shared with everyone who knew her will forever be cherished. They serve as a reminder of her beautiful spirit and the wonderful memories she created with those she loved—memories that will forever remain in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at the Bloomsbury Hose Company Banquet Hall, 91 Brunswick Avenue, Bloomsbury, NJ 08804.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elsie's memory to Common Sense for Animals in Broadway, NJ, Common Sense for Animals – Donations, or to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Children's Hospital of Philadelphia – Giving.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Warren Hills Memorial Home.
