Doris Spigel

Doris Spigel, 100, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2023 at Spring Village At Pocono in East Stroudsburg, PA.

Doris was born on November 2, 1923 in East Orange, NJ to the late Einer and Afrida Nelson.

Doris was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, George P Spigel, in 2016, and her daughter, Karyl Lynn Spigel, in 1964, and Sisters Ruth and Jeanette, and brother, Edward.

Doris is survived by her sons, Dr. Thomas (Cecelia) Spigel, John (Nancy) Spigel, and daughter Karen (Michael) Volpicella. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Dr. Kevin Spigel, Brian Spigel, William Spigel, Michael (Daisy) Spigel and Kristin (Carlos) Paniagua-Ferrari, and 3 great granddaughters, Chiara, Caterina, and Olivia Rose.

She loved animals, particularly her dogs Penny, Duchess and Candy, collecting antiques, and in later years, painting. She drove her car up until age 96 and lived on her own till her recent fall. She was a member of St Luke's Lutheran Church in Washington, NJ, for many years.

All services will be held privately

In lieu of flowers, donations in Doris' name can be made to your local SPCA, Hospice, or Alzheimer's Association.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Warren Hills Memorial Home in Washington, NJ, and burial will be in the family plot in St Teresa's Cemetery, in Summit, NJ, at the family's convenience.
