Darlene E Finnegan

Darlene E. Finnegan, 70 a lifelong resident of the Washington, NJ area passed away suddenly on August 21, 2023 at Hackettstown Community Hospital.

Darlene was born on November 25, 1952 in Phillipsburg, NJ to the late Lester and Minnie Mae “Prickett” Cole Jr. She graduated from Warren Hills High School as part of the class of 1970. She was employed as a bookkeeper for ShopRite in Washington, NJ for more than 30 years before her retirement in 2015. Darlene and her loving husband William of 39 years enjoyed traveling and were especially fond of cruises. She enjoyed the family trips to Disney and her favorite character, by far, was Tinkerbell.

Darlene's favorite holiday was Halloween. She loved wearing a scary costume while giving treats to the neighborhood children. Her enthusiasm for the holiday was evident in the many halloween decorations both inside and outside of the house.

Darlene loved her family and cherished time spent with them, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her loving husband William, Darlene is survived by her children, Christopher Hilliker (Lilian), Patrick Finnegan (Melissa) and Joshua Hilliker (Michele); brothers, Lester Cole III and Shane Cole and 8 grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by a son Joseph Finnegan and a brother Bret Cole.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday August 25, 2023 from 3-7 PM and again on Saturday August 26, 2023 from 11 AM- 12 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington, NJ 07882. A funeral service celebrating Darlene’s life will be held on Saturday at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Oxford, NJ.
