Danuta "Donna" T. Szymanski

Danuta T. “Donna” Szymanski, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away unexpectedly on September 22, 2026, at her home. She was 75.

Donna was born on February 27, 1951, in England, to the late Andrzej and Krystyna Szymanski (nee Opalka). She spent her professional career working in banking, but it was the simple things in life that brought Donna the greatest happiness.

Donna had a gentle, creative soul and an appreciation for beauty that could be seen in the things she loved to do. She enjoyed her daily walks, taking time to experience the world around her, and she found great joy and fulfillment through painting. She was also an exceptionally talented calligrapher. With her artistic ability and attention to detail, Donna could transform simple words and letters into something truly beautiful. Her calligraphy was not simply a talent, but a reflection of her patient, thoughtful, and creative nature.

Perhaps nothing, however, brought Donna more happiness than animals. She absolutely adored them, and cats held a particularly special place in her heart. Their companionship was a cherished part of her life, and her love for them was evident to everyone who knew her. Donna had a tender heart for animals and a special ability to appreciate the comfort, companionship, and unconditional love they provide.

Those who knew Donna will remember her for her artistic spirit, her love of nature and animals, and the quiet beauty she brought into the world. She will be deeply missed by her family and by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Donna is survived by her two brothers, Zbigniew Szymanski and Lech Szymanski, as well as her nieces and nephews, Krystyna Hansen, Christian Szymanski, Andrew Szymanski, and Karolyn Hays.

A graveside inurnment service will take place on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Donna’s memory may be made to Common Sense for Animals, 1012 Valley Road, Stewartsville, NJ 08886. Donations may be made in her honor to help continue the care and protection of animals in need.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Warren Hills Memorial Home.
