Benny R. Waters, 81, of Washington, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on January 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Benny was born on July 28, 1944, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Perry E. Waters and Lola M. Waters (née Tanner). He worked for many years as an ironworker and served as a superintendent on various power plant projects across the US and Canada. He was a lifetime member of the International Association of Bridge Structural, Ornamental & Reinforcing Ironworkers Union with Local 387 out of Atlanta, Georgia.
Benny enjoyed a life filled with simple pleasures and proud moments. He was a golfer, fisherman, and dedicated NASCAR fan. One of his most cherished experiences was having the opportunity to own Dale Earnhardt’s personal truck, a story he loved to share with family and friends. Benny also loved the fish pond he built on the family farm, stocked with catfish, bass & perch.
He is survived by his loving wife, Darla Waters (nee Schanzlin); his children, Heather Foss and her husband Christopher, Benny Waters Jr., and Tommy Waters; his cherished grandchildren, Chastity, Liza, Whitney, Tamara, and Ashley; and his sister, Olidia Carter.
In addition to his parents, Benny was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Tammy New, and his siblings, Raymond, Bette, Robbie, and Darrell.
