Barbara L. Shields

Barbara L. Shields, 62, of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, at Hunterdon Medical Center.

Born on September 5, 1963, in Delaware, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Kathryn Melberger (née Fisher). Barbara was a warm and caring woman who dedicated much of her life to serving others. She worked for many years as a talented hairdresser, forming lasting friendships with her clients. More recently, she was employed as a home delivery driver for ShopRite in Chester, NJ, where her friendly smile and kind spirit brightened the days of those she served.

Barbara found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved spending time at the beach, feeling the sun and sand beneath her feet. She also looked forward to her weekly bowling nights at Oakwood Lanes, where she shared laughter and camaraderie with friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Charles Shields; and her brother, Jeff Melberger. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by those who welcomed her into eternal rest.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882.
