Anthony Denichilo

Anthony ("Tony") Dominick DeNichilo, son of late Anthony and Antoinette DeNichilo, passed away on Saturday September 14th, 2024 at McLeod Seacoast Hospital in Little River, South Carolina.

Tony was originally from Hoboken NJ and a 60-year resident of Hampton, NJ. He held a Master's Degree from Seton Hall University, was a proud United States Marine Veteran, and a retired Lieutenant and Station Commander in Perryville for the State Police of New Jersey.

Tony is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara DeNichilo, his daughter Christine Butterfield, son-in-law Jeffrey Butterfield and beloved granddaughter Violet. Tony is also survived by several nieces and nephews who considered him like a father.

His number one biggest joy in life was spending time with family.

Tony was a major war history enthusiast (especially WWII), and could tell you anything you wanted to know about historical war aircraft. His favorite military bomber of all time was the Avro Lancaster. Tony was a brilliant academic mind when it came to history, was known to read a 200-page book in a matter of hours, and even into his later years could recite a history lesson or famous war battle in great detail from memory.

Animals and nature were a large part of Tony's life, too. He was an avid camper and cherished his time relaxing in Vermont outside his pop-up. His wife could not turn away a stray and Tony obliged, which included not just cats but a squirrel ("Petey") who would sit in Tony's hands.

Anyone who knew him would agree that Tony was strong on the outside with a big warm heart on the inside. He will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tony's name to Tunnels to Towers https://t2t.org/
