Anastasia Laporta

Anastasia "Tess" LaPorta, 92, of Washington , NJ passed away peacefully Friday, October 23, 2009 in her home. Born: Tess was born on August 26, 19 17 in New York City, one of twelve children of the late Anthony and Anna Stasyshyn. Personal: She was married for 63 years to her husband John B. LaPorta, who passed away in March of 2009.She was a homemaker and a loving and caring mother. She loved gardening, flowers and sewing. Most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very thankful for the wonderful care and relationship she formed with her caregiver, Valerie. Memberships: She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Washington. Survivors: Three daughters, Johann Barends and her husband Henry of Washington, NJ, Elaine Burd and her husband John of White Township, NJ, Kathleen Devoto of Princeton, NJ; two sons, Frank R. LaPorta and his wife Hope of Washington, NJ; John B. LaPorta, Jr. of Northampton, PA; eight grandchildren, Brian, Lisa, Mark, Carrie Ann, Frank Jr., Douglas, Michael, and Matthew; four great-grandchildren, Justin, Daniel, Ryan, Katina, and Elliot who is to be born in two weeks; a sister Kate Breniak of Glen Gardner, NJ and a brother George Stasyshyn of Georgia. Services: Friends and family may call 1:30 pm to 3 p.m. Wednesday October 28, 2009 at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave. , Washington NJ . Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with Fr. Blaise Barran officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in Washington, NJ.
