Adam Smorzaniuk, 73, of Oxford, N.J., died Saturday, August 19, 2006, in Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg.

Born: April 23, 1933 in the Ukraine, he was a son of the late Andrew and Rosalia Smorzaniuk.

Personal: He spent his youth in Germany and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1949. He had lived in Oxford for the past 28 years. Previously, he had resided in Union, N.J. Adam retired in 1990 from the American Corporation, Hackettstown, after 32 years as Chief Engineer of Special Products in the Research and Development Department. Adam had also owned and operated a farm in Oxford since 1979. Adam Graduated from Newark College of Engineering, now NJIT, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a lifetime member of Tau Beta Pi. He served as a corporal with the U.S. Army in the Army Intelligence Office during the Korean War. He was of the Lutheran Faith. Adam and his loving wife, Trudy, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December, 2005. He enjoyed woodworking and farming.

Memberships: He served on the Oxford Township Committee for six years as Deputy Mayor and Police Commissioner. He was a member of the Masonic Order in Washington, N.J.

Survivors: In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Eva Maria Smorzaniuk, and her husband, Philip E. L. Dietz, Jr., of Oxford, Md.; a son, Thomas Andrew Smorzaniuk, and his wife, Catherine McGarvey, of Oxford, N.J., and a grandson, Andrew Logan Smorzaniuk, of Clinton, N.J.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Warren Hills / Ford Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave., Washington, N.J. The Reverend Karol Van Wylfen will officiate. Call from 10:30 a.m. until time of services Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, N.J.
