Obituary of John E Abbott

John E. Abbott, 72 of Washington Township passed away on July 5, 2015 at home. John was born on June 29, 1943 in Catasauqua, PA to the late Raymond and Elsie Abbott. John graduated from Conrad Weiser high school and attended Rutgers University. He served proudly in the US Air Force serving in Japan. John was a job coach at Abilities of North West Jersey before retiring in 2008. Prior to being a job coach, he worked as a corrections officer for the Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility in Annandale, NJ. John belonged to Mansfield Lodge#36 and the Tall Cedars. John attended the Stewartsville Presbyterian Church. John loved his family and he cherished time spent with them. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Marian; 4 Step-children, Son Kevin Rush and his wife Laura; Daughters Kathy Rush, Karen Rush and Kerry Smith and her husband John; A Sister Sandra Burkhart and her husband Tom; Brothers Russell and his wife Ethel and William. Half-brothers Mark, Matthew and Greg. 10step- grandchildren, 9 step- Great grandchildren and 2 step Great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by Sisters Judith Abbott, Joan Sigley and a step-grandson Jason Dugan. Friends and family may pay their respects on Friday July 10, 2015 from 6:30-9:00 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington Ave, Washington, NJ 07882. Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday July 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Stewartsville Presbyterian Church, 550 North Main St, Stewartsville, NJ 08886. Friends and family may also pay their respects on Saturday at the church from 10:00 -11:00 AM.
