Obituary of George J Young

George J. Young, 88 of Washington Township NJ, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2014 in his home. George was born on March 29, 1926 in Warrior Run, PA where he resided until moving to Washington NJ in 1952. George proudly served his Country in the United States Army during WWII where he was stationed in Germany, George was an Automatic Rifleman carrying the Browning Automatic Rifle and served with Company E 275th Infantry Regiment 70th Infantry Division. He was a member of occupation Troops in Germany. He received the following medals; the Army of Occupation Medal, the EAME Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Upon returning from the war George worked in the coal mines in Warrior Run and later in life he became a maintenance mechanic for Lipton in Flemington, NJ for 26 years prior to retiring in 1990. He loved the outdoors. His was an avid hunter and trapper, mainly trapping mink and beaver in Warrior Run. George enjoyed going to and selling at flea markets. George was a war historian buff and enjoyed reading history books. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Washington. He is survived by his loving children, sons George and his wife Joanne of Ohio, Eric and his companion Susan Frinzi of PA., a daughter Elizabeth Lundeen and her husband Gary of Texas. 3 grandchildren, Marie Burger and her husband Brad, Carolyn Guion and her husband Daniel and Michael and a great-granddaughter Clara Rose. George is predeceased by his devoted wife of 51 years Elizabeth and a son Christopher. Friends and family may call on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 5-8 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Blaise Baran officiating at St. Joseph Catholic Church. 200 Carlton Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in Washington, NJ. Memorial donations may be made in George's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home.
