Obituary of Dorothy Sutton

Dorothy Sutton, 97, of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at home. Born: May 18, 1917 in Port Murray, NJ to the late Phillip and Kate Woronowicz. Personal: Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Washington. Dorothy attended Karrsville and Port Murray schools, and is a graduate of Hackettstown high school. While attending school she started to work at the age of 15. After graduation she worked at the Hosiery until they moved away, she went on to work at Riccardies until they moved out of town. She also worked at Tung Sol. Her last place of employment was at Warren Hills High School as a school facility aide. Dorothy was of the Catholic faith. Dorothy was married to John Sutton for 24 years until his death in 1968. Dorothy loved to travel and loved flowers. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church where she was involved in the singles social club, the friendship club, the outreach program and a member of the Choir and Alter Rosary society. Dorothy was a very caring person who helped anyone. She did a lot of charity and volunteer work for many organizations such as the food pantry where she volunteered for 17 years. Dorothy was recognized for charitable work with a dinner held in her honor with people from surrounding churches in attendance. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Survivors: Dorothy is the last of nine children, in addition to her husband she is predeceased by 4 brothers, Kazmir, Richard, Edward and Carl and 4 sisters, Jennie, Helen, Annette and Betty. She leaves behind several loving nieces and nephews. Services: Family and friends may call on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 6-8:00 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave, Washington, NJ. A mass of Christian burial will be held Friday September 19, 2014 at 10:00 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 Carlton Ave, Washington, NJ with Father Baron Blaise officiating. Internment will immediately follow at Pequest Union Cemetery in Great Meadow. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Washington Community Food Pantry, 40 East Church Street, Washington, NJ 07882.
