During the remainder of the 1970's, Denis was the National Organizer for Irish Republican Clubs in the US and Canada. In that role he traveled extensively, speaking on behalf of his native country, raising awareness and support for equality for the citizens of "Northern Ireland" the reunification of the Republic of Ireland. Denis was married to Catherine (Mickey) Curtin on November 27, 1972 until her death on February 12, 2012. They lived together in the Sunset Park section of Brooklyn, NY for over forty years.
