Obituary of Matthew R Zaleski

Matthew Richard Zaleski, 73, of Hackettstown, NJ passed away on August 16, 2014 at home of a short illness. He moved to Hackettstown in May 2014 and prior to that he lived in Belvidere and lived many happy years in Allamuchy, NJ. BORN: He was born in 1941 in Newark, NJ. He was the son of the late Matthew and Helen (Wegrocki) Zaleski and a 1959 graduate of Westfield High School. PERSONAL: He was involved in sales most of his life. In the 1960s, he sold insurance and was also a realtor. He retired from Callaremi Pontiac Buick & Cadillac in 2003. He also worked for Weichert Realtors. Prior to entering auto sales, he was the bar manager and later manager of The Still Restaurant in Tranquilty, NJ in the early 1970s. He had a ready smile and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed reading, cooking, dancing and all types of sports. He was an avid NY Giants fan and NY Yankee fan. He enjoyed going on cruises and vacations in New Hampshire on Lake Winnipesaukee and trips to Virginia. SURVIVORS: He is survived by his wife, Lynn (Bennett) Zaleski. Their 35th. wedding anniversary was June 9, 2014. He has two children from a previous marriage Jennifer and husband George Cox and Todd Zaleski. He has five grandchildren-Kyle, Jessica and Hope Zaleski and Zachary and Hailey Cox. He has a sister Janice Scanlan and husband Thomas, three nephews, Thomas, Daniel and David Scanlan and three nieces, Susanne Scanlan, Christine McDaniel and Brooke Bennett and supportive relatives and friends. SERVICES: The memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 7 PM at the community center of the Tranquilty United Methodist Church in Tranquilty NJ. The community center is located across the street from the church. MEMORIAL: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home.
