Stanly L. “Skipper” Van Ness, 61, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Manor Care Nursing Home, Easton, Pa, where he had resided for the past two years.
Born: On January 17, 1947, in Somerville, NJ, he was a son of the late Stanley and Pearl Van Ness.
Personal: A previous resident of Bethlehem, Pa, and Washington, NJ, Stanley was a carpenter, working for many local contractors. 
He loved working on cars, Western movies, and NASCAR.
Memberships: He was a member of Mt. Pisgah AME Church, Washington, NJ.
Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; three daughters, Sherri Freeman, Ann Marie Greggs, both of Easton, and Sophia Finley of Philadelphia; two sons, Kerri Van Ness of Easton and Kerr Robinson of Miss; a brother, Pastor Wendell McGinnis; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Michael and Curtis, died earlier.
Services: Visitation will be private.  Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the church, 169 N.
