Albert Tamashausky WWII Marine, Purple Heart recipient, 83 Albert Tamashausky, 83, of White Township died peacefully on Aug. 4, 2008, at home, surrounded by his family.
Visitation is on Thursday, Aug. 7, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Patricks Catholic Church, 327 Greenwich St., Belvidere.
Burial is in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington.
Born in Newark on Aug. 26, 1924, to the late Peter and Mary Tamashausky, Albert lived in Union, Irvington and Newark before moving to White Township. He was a construction worker for the Laborers Union Local 472 in Newark for 30 years, retiring in 1986. He served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds he received during the battle of Saipan. Albert also saw action in the battles on Tinian and Okinawa islands. He was a member of St. Patricks Church in Belvidere, and he loved spending time with his family. Albert was predeceased by his loving wife, Lorraine, in 1975, and is Survived by his daughter, Lorraine T. Tamashausky and her husband, George Coyle, of White Township; a son, Albert V. and his wife, Dorothy Ray, of Oxford; a sister, Helen Pladek of Hackettstown; two grandchildren, Lorraine Toots Holub and Matthew Brown; one greatgrandchild, Jourdan The Kid; and his cat, Cat.
