Carol Ann Rapsis 67 of Longs, SC passed away peacefully on Saturday February 21, 2009 at Grand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, SC.
Born on January 18, 1942 in Newton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Harmon and Anna Mehawk.
Personal: Carol and her husband resided in Longs, SC since 2004, but she lived in Washington most of her life. Carol retired as an insurance agent from Duryea Agency in Glen Gardner, earlier in her life she worked for Shoprite in Washington. Carol was a life member and past president of the Washington Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was also head cheerleading coach for the Washington Redskins Midget Football Team for 20 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Washington. She enjoyed shopping, the beach and the NY Yankees. She especially cherished her grandchildren and her great granddaughter.
Survivors: Carol is survived by her loving husband of 50 years James Joseph Rapsis Sr. of Longs, SC. Her caring children: A son James Joseph Rapsis Jr. and his wife Lisa of Stewartsville NJ. A daughter Karen Lynn Comella and her husband Thomas of Binghamton, NY. A sister Mary Ellen Hackett and her husband George of Washington, NJ. 4 grandchildren: Andrea, Ashley, Lauren and Jenna and 1 great granddaughter Addison.
Services: The Family will receive friends on Sunday March 1, 2009 from 5-9 PM Ladies Auxiliary Services will be held at 7:00 PM, at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday March 2, 2009 at 10:00 am with Fr. Blaise Baran officiating. At St. Joseph Catholic Church. 200 Carlton Ave, Washington, NJ 07882
Interment will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Oxford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Washington Fire Dept

There is no death that is easy to take, especially when it's the Mom of the family, but please remember all of the great times you have shared with your Mom and the family. Your Mom sounds like a wonderful women who gave her love to her family and time to her community.
