John
P. McDougall, Sr., 83, of New Village, NJ, formerly
of Cliffwood and Jersey City, died on Sunday, May 1, 2005 at
his home.
Born: On March 29, 1922 in Boston, Mass, he
was a son of the late Philip and Catherine O’Brien McDougall.
Personal: His wife, the former Marion Young,
died in 1980. Born in Boston, he spent his summers growing up
in Nova Scotia. He was a resident of New Village for the past
11 years. He was a research technician for General Cable &
Pirelli Cable in Bayonne, NJ for 32 years, retiring in 1982.
John served in the Army during World War II. He saw action in
the Invasion of Africa, during the Battle of Faio Pass, Tunisia,
and was captured and spent two years as a POW in Italy and Germany.
He graduated from St. Joseph High School in Jersey City, NJ.
He loved flying kites, stamp collecting, and fishing.
Memberships: John was a member of St. Joseph
Church, Keyport. He was a member of the VFW, Lyons, NJ, and
was a founding member of the Cliffwood and Matawan Rescue Squad’s.
Survivors: He is survived by five daughters,
Peggy LeBedz of Hamilton Square, NJ, Kathleen Schnorrsbusch
of New Village, Nancy Domenico of Florida, Genevieve Guoba of
Maine, Patricia Chambers of Middle Berry Center, Pa; two sons,
John P., Jr. of Tennessee, Allen of Cliffwood, NJ; a brother,
Donald of Hadley, NY; two nieces, Roseann Kenna and Julie Giordano;
20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services: Will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in
the Warren Hills/Ford Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave.,
Washington, with Father Robert Ascolese officiating. Calling
hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the
funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport,
