Arline Ross Detrick, 82, of Washington Twp, passed away peacefully at home February 17, 2011, surrounded by those she loved.
Born: March 11, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY she was a daughter of the late Frank Lewis Whiting and Dora Arline Licari.
Personal: She previously lived in Chatham, NJ, Troy, NY and W. Orange, NJ. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in 1949 from Maryville College in Maryville, TN. Arline was a school teacher for 20 years at Port Colden and Brass Castle Elementary Schools, having retired in 1988.
Grammy was deeply devoted to the Lord and her family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with each.
Memberships: She was a member of The Chapel of Warren Valley and a member of the New Jersey Teachers Association.
She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served with her late husband, Rev. John Ross in the pastorate.
Survivors: Her loving husband of 35 years, Robert L. “Bob” Detrick; two daughters, Priscilla and her husband Thomas Szlachtianchyn of Washington and Martha Ross of Roanoke, VA; two sons, Peter Ross at home and Andrew “Drew” Ross of Frederick, MD; two step-daughters, Linda Robertson of Washington and Alison and her husband Royd Whedon of St. Petersburg, FL; a stepson, David Detrick and his wife Donna of Broadway, NJ; a foster daughter, Dorothy Brenn of Florida; a sister, Janet Poling f St. Petersburg, FL; 11 grandchildren, Anya, Sandra, Michelle, Katherine, Daryl, Doug, Jeremy, Buffy, S’Donna, Alicia and Royd; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her loving first husband, Rev. John Ross who died in 1967 and her stepson, Dean Detrick who died in 1997.
Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave, Washington, NJ 07882.
A Memorial Service will be held on February 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Washington, 40 East Church St., Washington, NJ 07882.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882.
